Admissions

Who may apply?

Westminster Residents

If you live in Westminster and your child attends a primary school in the borough then you will complete an application form at your child's junior school naming Pimlico as one of your choices.

You have the right to name in order of priority:

  • 3 county schools
  • 5 voluntary aided schools

The headteacher of the junior school will advise you on how to do this.

External Applicants

If you don't live in the borough of Westminster then you need to contact Westminster City Hall for advice on making an application to Pimlico.

How to apply

Nobody may apply directly through Pimlico School. All applications must be dealt with by the City of Westminster Education Authority. If you have any doubt that you application has been received or have any queries about the transfer process you are advised to contact:

Admissions criteria

From 2003 students who live in Westminster will take priority over those from other London Boroughs.

If there are more applicants than places priority will be given in the following order:

  1. Up to 24 places to children who qualify for admission to Pimlico Special Music.
  2. Children who have a brother or sister already at the school.
  3. Children who have a professionally supported medical or social need for Pimlico School.

The Director of Education and Leisure will decide whether a place should be offered on these grounds.

  4. Children who live nearest to the school.

Nearness to the school will be measured on a large scale map of the area. For this purpose measurement will be over the shortest walking route and accessibility by private car or public transport will be disregarded.

We have room to admit 240 students into Year 7 each year. In September 2000, of the 565 students who stated that we were there first choice, 82 applicants were accepted who had a brother or sister already at the school, followed by those who lived nearest up to a distance of 1.34 miles.
